BR-H sweeps Superior Central

HARRIS — The Bark River-Harris Broncos made plenty of noise with their bats Tuesday as they swept to 13-2 and 8-1 softball victories over the Superior Central Cougars.

Haley Boucher doubled and singled and drove in two runs and Cierra Ouradnik added a two-run double.

“We finally got our bats moving,” said BR-H head coach Jen Goodrich. “We hit the way I knew we could. We had seven girls get at least two hits.”

Eden Oswald fired a two-hitter, struck out nine and walked one.

“Eden was doing real well,” said Goodrich. “I think having some nice weather really helped.”

Tiffany Nareski went 2-of-2 for the Cougars, who committed several errors.

Oswald then pitched four innings into the second game, striking out five, walking two and allowing four hits. Esther Oswald took over in the fifth and fanned one, walked three and gave up two hits.

“They were starting to time Eden,” said Goodrich. “They put the ball in play a lot when Esther took over, but that’s what we needed to see with her.”

BR-H’s Alexis Berg collected three singles and drove in three runs. Eden Oswald added two hits and three RBIs and Bonnie Cortinas doubled and singlle and got an RBI.

Addie Rondeau paced the Cougars with two hits.

“They (Cougars) look more competitive than in the past several years,” said Goodrich. “I think they’ll be a good team the next few years.”

BR-H (4-6) host the Negaunee jayvees in a twinbill today at 4. The Cougars visit Stephenson Thursday for a doubleheader which starts at 4:30.
